T’ashii Paddle School is partnering with Naturalist Ian Cruickshank for a few special tours in a traditional dugout cedar canoe! Join us on one of these tours which includes two guides; One Nuu-chah-nulth guide to share about local First Nations culture & history, & one Naturalist guide who is very knowledgeable about birds, plants and local ecology.
Our daily, 2 hour long Coastal Canoe Tour explores the salty ocean waters of Tla-o-qui-aht traditional territory In the Southern end of Clayoquot Sound. This tour is a great way to hear about traditional ways of life, changes through time, and Nuuchahnulth guides life stories.
Depending of various factors (tide height, wind, paddle power of group) this tour goes on various routes. This is not two hours straight of paddling. There are regular breaks at appropriate times, which the guide knows. Click here to book.
One of the most unique experiences in Tofino, join a Nuu-chah nulth guide plus Naturalist guide for a paddle and guided walk on the Big Tree Trail. Paddle as a group in our hand craft dugout canoe to experience 1000 year old Cedar trees and the old growth rainforest on Meares Island. Learn about First Nations culture, history, and environment. 4 hour round trip: Roughly half the time spent on the water and half the time spent on the island (guide uses ocean currents to groups advantage).
